William Courtney, adjunct senior fellow at Rand Corporation and former U.S. ambassador to Georgia and Kazakhstan, says Russia seems to be starting with a "shock and awe" attack against Ukraine, and would not want to go into "urban combat" because casualties will be quite high. The ongoing lockdown is estimated to cost 700 million ringgit ($172.7 million) a day in lost GDP, said Finance Minister Zafrul Aziz. 7% of its value and is currently trading at $43,352 on Coingecko charts Thursday. Is it "Ukraine" or "the Ukraine"? It used to be "the Ukraine," but after breaking away from the Soviet Union in 1991 the name changed to just "Ukraine." That distinction actually turns out to be pretty important for understanding the current crisis. Ukraine has a very long history of being subjugated by outside powers, and a very short history of national independence. That may actually be why the country became known as "the Ukraine," which many historians think meant "the borderland" in the language of ancient Slavs (it may also mean "the homeland," a theory that Ukrainian nationalists understandably prefer). In other words, it may have been called "the" because it was considered more of a geographic region than an independent country, and one defined by its in-between-ness. The country has been under partial or total Russian rule for most of those intervening centuries, which is a big part of why one in six Ukrainians is actually an ethnic Russian, one in three speaks Russian as their native language (the other two-thirds speak Ukrainian natively), and much of the country's media is in Russian. For decades, researchers have been aware of its potential as a fuel. But the process to produce ethanol inexpensively and efficiently has been elusive -- until now, some scientists say. A fast-growing grass known as switchgrass can be found around the United States, Canada, Central and South America, and parts of Africa. And, if it continues to show the kind of promise it does now, it may be what you use to fuel your car in the next 20 years. So how can grass become fuel? Read the next page to find out about the sunny forecast for switchgrass as an answer to the impending energy crisis. Research into sources for biological fuels -- biofuels -- has included everything from chicken fat to wood chips. But processing most of them yields a low net energy ratio -- the amount of energy each unit puts out isn't much more than the energy put into its production. Cost has also been a problem: Techniques for extracting fuels from plant and animal resources are currently expensive, which would be reflected at the fuel pump. The NLOS cannon: The reason your day's about to take a turn for the worst. See more images of the Army. It's 2012, and you find yourself in the precarious position of being a soldier in a military that's embattled against the United States. The caravan of armored vehicles you're a part of comes to a halt. An unmanned aerial drone has just appeared over the horizon, flying toward the caravan. You and several members of your platoon are ordered out of your vehicle to destroy the reconnaissance drone. You look upward to the curious sight of several small parachutes suspending what looks like canisters, drifting toward the caravan. Strangely, despite a crosswind that should be carrying the canisters away, you notice that each one is headed directly for a vehicle. You hear someone shout "cluster bomb!" in your native language, followed by a body-rattling, quick succession of explosions. Your vision blurs, you hear only a single high-frequency note.|Many prefer threading for shaping their eyebrows because the technique is so precise. See more pictures of personal hygiene practices. One of the latest imports to the West is threading, a hair removal method that is catching the attention of many people, including celebrities. By most accounts, threading originated in the Middle East and South Asia. The technique involves using a thin piece of cotton thread. Swiping it quickly against the skin to remove hair at the root without taking any skin along. The procedure can only be done on flat surfaces of skin, which is why threading has not replaced waxing as the choice method of hair removal on the bikini line. Like waxing and shaving, however, threading does have the potential to cause infection, so you have to make sure you find a skilled practitioner who uses clean materials. You can usually find credible threading boutiques in most major cities. Read on to learn more about the history of threading, as well as its advantages and disadvantages.

Russia-Ukraine live news The reason we are having these troops all over the place and those shellings is because he has lost every other attempt to occupy Ukraine, to influence Ukraine. That’s his last resort. What if Russia wins? I have something to fight for. I’ve built my life. So I don’t want to give up on this very easily. I can sit, sit at home and cry over what I’ve had, what I used to have. Or I can stand up. Fight for it. I’m definitely going for the second option. And I’m pretty sure every … Ukrainian is going to say the same thing. If Russia occupies Ukraine, do (you) think he will stop? He won’t stop because that’s just his nature. He invades his neighbors. 2008, Georgia. Now us. Crimea in 2014. … What he wants is to undermine the security architecture of the whole world. He wants to undermine our unions. He wants to undermine our trust. When you use your set-top box (STB) to tune to a particular channel, the STB searches the stream for the channel's frequency and carries the signal to your television. High definition channels take up more bandwidth than normal digital video, so spare bandwidth decreases as cable companies add HD channels to their lineups. Because HDTVs have become more affordable and more households have acquired them, demand for HD programming has increased. Cable companies have to find ways to meet customer expectations, particularly in light of the fact that HD television providers already offer dozens of channels in HD format. Switched digital video uses a different delivery system. Instead of combining all channels into one programming stream throughout the network, the cable company selects only the most popular channels for a network-wide stream. For less popular programming, the company responds to individual customer demands as the customer tunes in to that channel. In other words, the service provider sends only the channels customers are actually trying to watch. Unfortunately, a gas mask won't do you much good in the event of a large-scale bioterrorist attack. The attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, alerted the world to the realities of new terrorist threats. Startling images of the Twin Towers falling are indelible. May have overshadowed the events that occurred just a week later. From a public mailbox in New Jersey, letters that contained anthrax spores were mailed to two U.S. The attack killed five people. Bioterrorism -- the purposeful release of bacteria, viruses or germs to cause injury, illness or death -- became a reality in the United States. The three ways a terrorist can release biological agents is through air, water or food. These agents are typically very difficult to detect and because the illnesses they cause are usually delayed, it makes bioterrorism a hard crime to investigate. In fact, the anthrax case of 2001 remains unsolved. Human bodies infected with plague were also used as ammunition in central Europe during the 14th and 15th centuries.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on Saturday, as did US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, according to the US State and Defense departments. Blinken reiterated that diplomatic channels of communication would remain open, but, to avoid conflict in Ukraine, Moscow would need to tangibly de-escalate its forces on Ukraine's borders, the State Department said. Later on Saturday, Blinken said the risk of invasion was currently high enough to justify the decision to reduce diplomatic staff in Ukraine. Blinken told reporters in the US state of Hawaii. The US has also announced it would remove 150 US military trainers currently located in Ukraine. What is the possibility of armed conflict? The confrontation between East and West comes as Russia has amassed over 100,000 troops on Ukraine's borders. Currently, Russia is conducting naval drills in the Black Sea and military exercises in Belarus along Ukraine's northern border. The Kremlin has said it has no intention of invading Ukraine. To do this, we'll need to understand how current laptops are structured. Basically, the laptops with which we're all familiar consist of many individual components, each fixed within a metal frame. The entire structure opens. Closes like a book. Not only does a traditional laptop's metal frame form a rigid shell, but most of its internal components are bulky and rigid, too. The largest of these components is the screen, or display. There are several different types of modern computer displays, each built with different technologies, but most of today's displays are inflexible, bulky and surprisingly fragile. The hard disk drive, used to store memory, is another large and rigid component of a traditional laptop. The list continues and includes many other components you're probably familiar with, such as the CD/DVD drive and the battery. There are at least three main components to the Fabric PC design that will allow this to happen. First of all, the computer display will be constructed from a cutting-edge technology called e-paper, allowing the display screen to be paper-thin and bendable.|Music occupies a very important part of our life.
